Vietnam – Rice exports rise to record high

Source: Viet Nam News07/01/2012 – Viet Nam’s rice exports last year rose to a record high of 7.1 million tonnes for an FOB (free on board) value of US$ 3.5 billion, the Viet Nam Food Association (VFA) reported yesterday.

Philippines – NFA slates rice importation tender

Source: Manila Bulletin08/01/2012 –  The National Food Authority said Friday it may hold a bidding next month for permits allowing private importers to buy up to 500,000 tonnes of rice this year, but added that actual buying could have started even before permits are awarded.

Guyana – Rice exports earned over US$ 169M in 2011
