Indonesia – Jakarta scraps rice purchase

Source: Bangkok Post30/09/2011 – Indonesia will scrap its plan to buy 70,000 tonnes of rice worth 1.37 billion baht from Thai exporters as a protest against the cancellation of a sale by the Thai government, say rice exporters.

Philippines – No more than 500,000 tons rice imports planned for 2012

Source: Business World26/09/2011 – The Philippines said on Monday its rice imports for 2012 will not exceed 500,000 tons, and it will not rush back into the market soon with expectations of a record domestic harvest this year barring weather disturbances.
